Artists:

Daily Serving’s twice-a-month Fan Mail series features work from artist submissions. To submit your* work, email info@dailyserving.com with a link to your website and “Fan Mail” in the subject line. All submissions must contain a valid URL that leads to at least 10 current images of your work. Do not submit links to Dropbox or WeTransfer files, we will not open them. Due to volume, we are unable to reply to all submissions.

*A note to galleries: please ask your artists to submit to Fan Mail directly, as we are not able to accept submissions from galleries.

Writers:

Shotgun Reviews are an open forum where we invite the international art community to contribute timely, short-format responses to an exhibition or event. We publish Shotgun Reviews on Fridays. If you are interested in submitting a Shotgun Review, please click this link for more information.

Daily Serving | Art Practical Internship Programs:

Interns work with the Daily Serving | Art Practical team to produce Daily Serving’s daily content and Art Practical’s thematic issues, numerous public programs, and educational initiatives; and develop strong relationships with the Bay Area and international visual arts community to create greater visibility for the artists, writers, magazines, and organization.

Interns learn crucial editorial skills and the operations of two premiere and well-established arts magazines; create valuable connections within the community of writers, artists, galleries, and museums; attend editorial staff meetings; have the opportunity to contribute Shotgun Reviews; and contribute to podcasts. There is the potential to expand the position according to the intern’s interests and skills. Internships may be arranged for academic credit through the participant’s school, though it is not required.

Editorial Internship:

-Fact check and proofread articles
-Communicate with contributors, artists, galleries, and subscribers
-Research potential picks and news items
-Help organize public programs
-Post articles
-Help manage Art Practical’s Events Listings
-Assist with live coverage of events
-Assist with content creation and management for marketing campaigns and organizational communications
-Attend weekly staff meetings
-General administrative duties as needed

Editorial interns report to the editor(s) in chief, production coordinator, and the executive director. Potential candidates must have strong writing skills, be organized and detail-oriented, flexible, and self-directed. Experience blogging and/or with content management systems is strongly desired. A background in contemporary art and familiarity with the visual art scene is preferred.

Public Relations Internship:

-Work with our social media strategist to conceive, implement, and track social media and email campaigns
-Research media contacts
-Write press releases and monthly newsletter
-Promote subscriptions and reader commentary
-Research potential picks and news items
-Assist with live coverage of events
-Assist with content creation and management for marketing campaigns and organizational communications
-Provide support for sponsorship and partner campaigns for projects and events
-Attend weekly staff meetings

Public Relations interns report to the communications manager and the executive director. Potential candidates must have strong writing skills, be organized and detail-oriented, flexible, and self-directed. Experience with online marketing strategy, communications systems and online community-building strongly desired. Knowledge of and experience using standard social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat) desired. A background in contemporary art and familiarity with the visual art scene is preferred.

Design Internship:

-Support the design needs and growth for both online publications.
-Work with the staff to design, conceptualize, and bring to life marketing and branding campaigns for desktop and mobile platforms.
-Assistance producing some printed collateral, though the majority of design work will be web-based.
-Help develop ad campaigns and collateral for our sponsorship program.
-Help with design needs of PR material with a focus on the newsletter and social media campaigns.
-Provide insight and implementation of current design trends.
-Attend weekly staff meetings

Design interns report to the communications manager and executive director. Potential candidates must have strong design and visual skills, be organized and detail-oriented, flexible, and self-directed. Proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Experience with design collateral for social and mobile desired. Candidates need not have development skills, though some background is a plus. Experience blogging and/or with content management systems is strongly desired. A background in contemporary art and familiarity with the visual art scene is preferred. Design candidates must submit a portfolio.
